As a wedding photographer, there’s nothing quite like capturing the joy and excitement of a couple during their engagement session. And when that session takes place on a beautiful beach like Tybee Island’s North Beach, it’s a recipe for pure magic. If you’re just visiting Tybee, and don’t live here, you’ll probably end up on the South Side of the island by the pier. And don’t get me wrong, that area is great! I tend to recommend North Beach for photos because the beach itself is not as busy, the water is calmer, and I love a good lighthouse.
From the moment I met Brittany and Justin, I knew we were in for a treat! They were so bubbly and full of energy, and you could feel the love between them from a mile away,. We started our session by walking along the shoreline, the waves crashing at our feet and the sun setting behind us. I encouraged them to interact with each other, to laugh and dance and just have fun. And boy, did they deliver, even getting waaayyy in the water for a few shots!!
One of the things I love about beach sessions is how natural and carefree they feel. There’s something about the sand and the sea that just puts people at ease, and it shows in the photos. My clients were twirling around and dipping each other, splashing in the water and snuggling up on the sand. I captured every moment, focusing on lighthearted poses that showcased their real emotions.
By the time we wrapped up, the sky was a stunning array of pinks and oranges. My clients were tired but happy, and I knew we had created some truly special images. Beach engagement sessions are always a joy to photograph, and this one was no exception. I was lucky enough to photograph their wedding at the Georgia State Railroad Museum in 2022 as well, and I can’t wait to see where the future takes these two.
